Thank you for joining Dojo. This amazing website also allows you to contact me directly and message me about any questions you may have about your child or school. I will endeavour to respond within 24 hours, failing a quick enough response, you are welcome to ring the office and make an appointment to see me.

Home Reading

Reading is important for every child and we like to encourage reading both in and out of school. Your child will read in school through guided reading. Guided reading is small-group reading which provides your child with differentiated teaching that helps develop reading proficiency. All children in each group will take the same book home to practise their reading fluency. We hope that you will be able to ensure that your child reads at least three times a week. Sharing stories at home with family members is also a wonderful activity for developing a love of stories and life long love of reading.

Children will be sent home with a spelling book each every week on a Friday. Inside will be a list of words they need to learn to read and spell ready for a weekly spelling test on a Tuesday. Please ensure that you practise these words with your child over the weekend and return the book to school on or before Tuesday ready for the test.

We have P.E twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. Please send your child with their full kit on a Monday and leave it in school as it may be needed at times other than the timetabled lessons.
Please make sure your child has the correct P.E. kit in school and that it is all clearly labelled. If items are named it will make it easier to return any misplaced items. Earrings should be removed before coming to school on days when PE is expected. If the ears have only just been pierced plasters need to be sent in with your child for them to wear during the lesson.

Book Bags

Please remember to bring book bags to school every day. Can you ensure these are the school book bags as these protect our school books and ensure things are not damaged or lost.
It is important you check your child's book bag each night, as we use their bags as a way to let you know what's going on too (newsletters, events happening in school, progress, accident notes etc).
Also please do not send drinks bottles inside book bags as these can often leak and ruin books inside.

Home Time

Children will exit the school through the hall door onto the KS1 playground. Please ensure that you come to the hall door and tell the member of staff who you are picking up so that there is smooth hand over.
